The Radio Relay ATAK Plugin is licensed per EUD — per Android phone or tablet running ATAK — not per radio and not per organisation. This article explains what a licence covers, the ways you can buy one, and what to do if your key has not arrived.
What a licence covers
One licence activates the Radio Relay plugin on one EUD. That EUD can then talk to your BTECH radio over Bluetooth and bridge it into TAK.
A practical example: a three-person team with three UV-PRO radios and three phones needs three licences — one per phone. Two operators sharing one phone between them need one.
Because teams almost always run one radio per operator, our radio packs bundle licences 1:1 with radios. If your ratio is different, buy the standalone plugin for the extra EUDs.
Ways to buy a licence
| How you buy it | What you get | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Radio Relay ATAK Plugin, standalone | 1 lifetime licence, software only — no hardware | $200 |
| BTECH UV-PRO with ATAK Plugin: Lifetime | Radio(s) + a lifetime licence per radio in the pack | see pack pricing below |
| BTECH UV-50PRO with ATAK Plugin: 1 Year / 3 Year | Mobile radio + a term licence | +$100 (1 yr) / +$200 (3 yr) |
| UVPRO-MANPACK | The complete kit, including 5 ATAK licence keys | $2,000 |
UV-PRO pack pricing
Buying the lifetime plugin bundled with radios costs less per licence as the pack grows:
| Pack | Radios only | With lifetime plugin | Effective cost per licence |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $160 | $360 | $200 |
| 3 | $430 | $950 | ~$173 |
| 5 | $700 | $1,500 | $160 |
| 10 | $1,400 | $2,880 | $148 |
Lifetime vs term — read this before you buy
The two are not the same product option:
- UV-PRO handhelds offer a Lifetime plugin licence. Buy once, keep it.
- UV-50PRO mobile radios offer 1 Year or 3 Year terms. These expire and need renewing.
If you are outfitting a mixed fleet, check which option is attached to each line on your order.
Related licences that are not Radio Relay
These are separate products with their own keys. Buying one does not license the others:
- Repeaters ATAK Plugin — $50. Draws local repeaters on the map from RepeaterBook. It does not program the radio — Radio Relay's channel programmer does that. See Repeaters ATAK Plugin.
- Radio Relay Bridge — $200. A desktop bridge, licensed separately from the ATAK plugin.
Activating your licence
- Place the order. Licence keys are issued by the GoTAK orders team against your order, not generated automatically at checkout.
- Watch the email address on the order for your key. Check spam and quarantine — agency mail filters catch these regularly.
- Install the Radio Relay plugin on the EUD and enter the key when prompted.
- Pair the radio and confirm the link. See the Radio Relay ATAK Plugin 2.0 Quick Start Guide.
If your key has not arrived
This is the most common licensing issue we see, and it is almost always one of three things.
You bought a bundle and expected the key at checkout. Keys are issued by the orders team after the order lands. Allow one business day (Monday–Friday).
You bought a multi-pack and only some licences activated. Multi-packs are issued as multiple individual keys. If you have three radios and only two activated, you are most likely missing a key rather than hitting a licence limit — ask for the remainder rather than re-buying.
You redeemed a coupon or partner code. Discounted and partner-code orders follow the same path — the key still comes from the orders team.
In all three cases, email sales@getgotak.com with your order number and how many keys you are expecting.
