Repeaters ATAK Plugin: seeing local repeaters on your map

The Repeaters ATAK Plugin puts HAM repeaters on your ATAK map — location, frequency, and access details — queried live from the RepeaterBook database. Instead of looking up repeater details on a phone with no signal, you pan the map and read them off.

What it does, and what it does not do

It shows you where repeaters are. It is a map layer: repeater locations with the frequency and access information attached to each one, pulled live from RepeaterBook.

It does not program your radio. The plugin displays reference data. Tuning to a repeater's frequency, offset, and tone is a separate step.

That distinction matters because the two get conflated constantly. A repeater appearing on your map does not mean your radio is set to it.

Where it came from

The RepeaterBook map function used to live inside the Radio Relay ATAK Plugin. We pulled it out and made it a standalone plugin, so you can run repeater awareness without Radio Relay — and Radio Relay without carrying a map feature you may not want.

Radio Relay still has its own channel programmer, and that still picks up your local repeaters. The two are not the same thing: Radio Relay programs the radio, the Repeaters plugin draws the map.

Repeaters vs Radio Relay

Separate products, separate licence keys. Buying one does not include the other.

Repeaters ATAK Plugin Radio Relay ATAK Plugin
Shows repeaters on the map Yes — live from RepeaterBook No
Programs radio channels No Yes — channel programmer, picks up local repeaters
Carries your TAK traffic over RF No — reference data only Yes — PLI, CoT, markers, routes, shapes, voice
Price $50 $200 standalone

Most teams that want both run both: Radio Relay to get on the map and program the radio, Repeaters to see what infrastructure is around them.

Working offline

The plugin queries RepeaterBook live, which means it needs connectivity to pull fresh data.

For operations with no connectivity, the data packages are the offline answer — the same repeater information as a self-contained ATAK overlay you load before you go out:

Product What it is Price
Repeaters ATAK Plugin Live RepeaterBook lookup on the map $50
Radio Repeaters ATAK Data Package Offline repeater data, one US state per purchase $15 per state
Radio Repeaters ATAK Data Package — Country Offline data for all 50 US states $300

The offline data is sold per state by design — most teams only need the states they operate in. If you cover more than twenty states, the country package costs less than buying them individually.

Rule of thumb: if your operators will have a data connection, the plugin alone is enough and stays current. If they will be in a comms-denied or austere environment, buy the data package for the states you will be working in.

Getting your key

The Repeaters plugin licence key is issued by the GoTAK orders team against your order, not generated at checkout. Watch the email address on the order, and check spam — agency mail filters catch these regularly.

If your key has not arrived after one business day, email sales@getgotak.com with your order number and what you purchased.
