How is SYNAPSE-P different from SYNAPSE-L?+

Both run TAK OS onboard as a self-hosted TAK Server. SYNAPSE-L is a server node in a carry-on case that also brings the team's WiFi network and 5G / satellite uplink. SYNAPSE-P is a fully rugged laptop: the server plus a full operator workstation — display, keyboard, heavier compute for offline AI, and military-grade connector options. Many teams run one of each.

What does "full TAK OS capabilities" mean here?+

The same TAK OS you'd otherwise reach in the cloud, running locally on the laptop: team tracking, mapping, secure team comms, video, and drone feeds, with ATAK, WinTAK, and iTAK clients connecting directly. Nothing is a lite version, and none of it needs an internet connection.

What are the offline AI workflows?+

AI workloads that run entirely on the machine. The Intel Core Ultra processor includes a dedicated NPU, and you can configure an optional NVIDIA RTX A500 and up to 64 GB of memory for larger models. Nothing is sent to a cloud service. Tell us what you want the AI to do and we'll size the configuration for it when we quote.

What does "adapted for MIL components" include?+

The Z14I platform accepts an expansion box with military-grade circular connectors in place of consumer ports, plus RF antenna pass-through for GPS, cellular, and Wi-Fi. It also has two RS-232/422/485 serial ports and two gigabit Ethernet ports for radios and legacy gear. Connector types and pinouts are scoped to your cabling during quoting.

Does it work with no internet at all?+

Yes. The TAK server runs locally, map layers are pre-loaded, and the AI runs on the machine. An uplink adds reach — optional 4G LTE or 5G is available — but it is never required for the local picture.

How do my team's devices connect to it?+

Over your network: plug SYNAPSE-P into a switch or router on one of its two gigabit Ethernet ports, or join it to an existing Wi-Fi network, and clients connect to it like any TAK Server. If you need it to bring the field network and uplink too, pair it with a SYNAPSE-L or a Global-Link 5G.

How rugged is it, and whose ratings are those?+

The ratings belong to the base platform. Durabook certifies the Z14I to MIL-STD-810H, MIL-STD-461G, and IP66, with a six-foot drop rating, a magnesium-alloy chassis, and an operating range of −29 °C to 63 °C. Ask us how a specific expansion option affects them for your build.

How long does it run on battery?+

Durabook's benchmark is up to 12.5 hours on the main battery and 21.5 hours with the second battery fitted. Running a server and AI workloads draws more than that benchmark, so plan on less. Batteries are quick-release, and the optional bridge battery lets you swap them without shutting down.

How do I get pricing?+
