Does it carry voice?+
No. goTenna's Aspen Grove mesh is built for short bursts of data: position updates, map markings and text messages. Many teams use it to cut voice traffic down to essential updates, and some use their phone's voice-to-text for hands-free messages.
Do I need a license to operate it?+
Pro X2 is built for professional use and offers user-selectable VHF (142–175 MHz) and UHF (445–480 MHz) frequencies. Operating in the US may require an FCC Part 90 license. Contact us if you plan to use it outside the US.
What range will I get?+
It depends on terrain and elevation: about 15 miles line of sight body-worn, 55 miles from an elevated ground relay, and more than 100 miles point to point through an aerial relay.
Which antennas are included?+
Two UHF whips: a 2.5" compact antenna for body-worn use and a 5.5" performance antenna. A VHF antenna is not included; VHF is best for vehicle and fixed installations. The SMA connector takes goTenna and third-party antennas.
Does it work with our older Pro X radios?+
Yes. Pro X and Pro X2 share a network once the Pro X is updated to the free Aspen Grove 1.2 firmware. Pro X2 is also fully compatible with goKit 2, and it needs no different software.
How long does the battery last?+
About 9 hours per charge on a standard mission, with options for solar relays and charging from a tethered phone.
Can civilians buy it?+
No. goTenna Pro X2 is not sold to civilians, and this listing is for quote requests only.
